Midhurst and Rother Valley
The countryside around Midhurst ranges from secluded, deer-filled woods to chalk downland and rolling hills, with extensive views over the Weald to the north and the sea to the south. North of Midhurst is poet Tennyson’s beloved Blackdown, the highest hill in West Sussex, the ancient Woolbeding Wood and Stedham Common, a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Heathland
The market town of Midhurst has a wealth of 16th century timber framed buildings and several old coaching inns, a legacy of its days as an important staging post on the old London to Chichester road. Nearby are the nature reserves of Graffham Down and Heyshott Down, both important sites for chalk-loving plants and butterflies, Beacon Hill, with its Iron Age fort, and the pretty villages of Easebourne and Fernhurst.
