Welcome to the South Downs Sustainable Tourism Network (SDTN)
Register to access the Network area of the website
The SDTN was established in 2003 through the combined efforts of the South Downs Joint Committee and Tourism South East.
There is no formal joining process or membership subscription. Tourism and related businesses who share an interest in the wellbeing of the Downs and their sustainability as a visitor destination have had their details added to the membership database, which has now grown to more than 500. Members are either located in or relatively close to the Downs. Most are providers of B&B and other forms of visitor accommodation.
The purpose of the Network area of the website is to encourage and enable individuals and organisations interested in fostering sustainable tourism in the South Downs to develop and share their knowledge, and to obtain and add to relevant information.
If this is your first visit to this site, you will need to register as a Member. This is very straightforward. Once you have entered your details and these have been checked, you will be sent a password that will allow access to Members’ only areas of the website.
Regular ‘e-bulletins’ advise Network members of sustainable tourism opportunities and developments, with links to this website. Members only sections of the site are as follows:
Member directory Look for other members nearby or in the same line of business and keep your own details up to date. This will be activated once more businesses have registered and entered their business details.
Discussion forum Ask for other members’ opinions, views or advice. You might be interested in solar panels or local food suppliers. Who better to ask than other tourism businesses?
Helpful information Contains links to other websites as well as topical reports and articles
The Green Room is where you will find information on all things green, including meetings of the Green Tourism Business Club, suppliers of 'green' products and information sheets. One such example is an information sheet on natural cleaners
Events Find out about what’s happening and let other members know of your own events. There are events to interest you and your guests.
Steering Group lets you know about discussions concerning the future direction of the Network. Notes of the July steering group meeting are now available to download.
